The Merry Beggars are finalists in three award categories for the prestigious 2024 Gabriel Awards, presented annually by The Catholic Media Association (CMA)! The awards honor excellence in film, broadcast, and digital media productions released in the USA and Canada.

The Gabriel Awards were created in 1965 to "recognize outstanding artistic achievement in a television or radio program or series that entertains and enriches with a true vision of humanity and true vision of life". This year's awards will be presented at the Gabriel Awards Reception on June 20th, as part of the Catholic Media Conference in Atlanta.

According to the CMA's press release, "this year's finalists represent the pinnacle of media production in the United States and Canada, with each entry exemplifying the awards’ commitment to values of dignity, community, tolerance, justice, and compassion."

The Merry Beggars’ entries under award consideration are:

Best Podcast: The Saints

Best Podcast - Single Episode: Saint George

Best Podcast Series: Elizabeth Ann Seton

As first-time nominees, The Merry Beggars joins a distinguished list of other 2024 Gabriel Award finalists, including established media producers like The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC), CBS News, EWTN, and the Catholic University of America.

Peter Atkinson, The Merry Beggars’ founder and executive producer, had this to say: “We are honored to be chosen as finalists for this year’s Gabriel Awards! Our focus every day is sharing the stories of The Saints with our audience in the most beautiful and inspiring way possible. Pope Benedict XVI said that the most powerful witnesses to the truth of the Catholic faith are the saints the Church has produced and the art she has inspired. Each of us is called to become the unique saint God created us to be. Our hope is that by bringing the stories of the saints to life, we can inspire a new generation of saints!”
