Rating Reason

Joan of Arc emphasizes themes of faith and courage. Joan learns to trust God and the voices of Saint Michael, Saint Margaret, and Saint Catherine. She boldly resists the secular rulers and insists that God’s Providence be trusted. There are powerful moments involving confession, trust in God’s mercy and Providence, and needing courage to follow God.

Some elements of intensity include scenes from battle, being physically injured by an arrow, and shouting. Joan’s father angrily commands her to not listen to God’s commands. She then sneaks out of the house at night, not following her earthly father’s commands. There are dramatic arguments between Joan and her Generals and soldiers.
