Stepping into the Spotlight

Earlier this week, The Merry Beggars welcomed several homeschool families from Lake County into the studio. Corresponding with the recording of Padre Pio, this visit allowed homeschool students to see The Merry Beggars’ producing a brand new series of The Saints. “It was great to have these families see our actors recording a new series in the studios,” says Atkinson. “We are blessed to be able to give these homeschoolers an experience that they’ll remember for years to come.”

Tour Recap

The tour of the Relevant Radio headquarters began in the Merry Beggars’ studio and green room, where Actors were gathered to record our 43rd series of The Saints. The homeschoolers were able to meet some of the actors, as well as meet Demetrios Troy, the Director of that day’s recording session. The Actors of the upcoming Padre Pio series were touched by the visit as well. “Working in voiceover, we’re usually just recording alone in a studio or at home. Getting to see the audience that this is going to was really special,” remarked one of the studio team.

The arrival of the group coincided perfectly with a recording break for the actors, giving the homeschoolers the perfect opportunity to step into the studio and experience recording first-hand. They were able to listen in on some just-recorded material, learn about our microphones and recording process, and ask questions about what goes into the creation of one of their favorite shows. After spending time with Peter Atkinson in the studio, the students filed out, learning about the Relevant Radio studios and about the details of operating a national radio network.

God First

The tour concluded with a detailed look inside Relevant Radio’s beautiful chapel, guided by Peter Atkinson. He shared details about the chapel’s history and the beautiful marble altar, the statues, and the stained glass windows. Finally, Peter gave out special limited edition The Saints trading cards to the entire group of visitors.

“I hope that this is the first of many visits like this! It is a joy to share the story of The Merry Beggars directly with such an important part of our audience. We had a blast hosting the group.” Welcoming these families and their young ones to the studio was the highlight of our week. As we continue to make more stories of The Saints, events like this humble us with the impact we’re blessed to have on our audience. We look forward to many more visits that inspire both our team - and the next generation of Saints.
