Francis of Assisi
Father of the Franciscans
Medieval Italy, 1202 AD. In the city-state of Assisi, the son of a wealthy merchant prepares for battle as a knight.
Dressed in fine armor, rich clothes, riding the finest horse money can buy, Francesco di Bernardino is fond of parties and sport, until a life-changing event turns his world upside down.
What happens next will make him a champion of the poor and weak, and one of the most beloved saints in history. This is the story of Francis of Assisi.

Rating Reason
We meet Francis of Assisi pre-conversion, when he is mostly interested in partying and achieving worldly glory. He goes to parties and joins the army to achieve worldly glory.
There are beautiful moments of conversion, witnessing to God, and influencing his friends to pursue holiness.
Francis encounters God’s presence in nature. Some scenes of tension and anger between Pietro, Francis’ father, and Francis may be too intense for sensitive or younger listeners.
