Kateri Tekakwitha
The Lily of the Mohawks
1673. The Mohawk Nation village of Caughnawaga, in present day New York. A fragile peace between the Mohawk and the French barely holds, and Jesuit missionaries now return to the wary Mohawk. Some want them dead.
But one young indigenous woman, the niece of the tribe’s chief, comes to them with a surprising request. That woman’s name? Tekakwitha.

Rating Reason
Struggling with a family which doesn’t want the best for her, Kateri leaves her parents’ plan for an arranged marriage and is baptized by the priest Abbe Jacques. When the community refuses to accept her as a Christian, she makes the difficult decision to leave and follow Christ.
Some episodes also contain depictions of violence. Kateri is attacked by anti-Christian Mohawks in one scene; in another, bounty hunters fire a gun at Kateri and Andre. This series also contains raised voices and arguments between families, as well as threats of violence and a reference to tobacco.
