Damien of Molokai lives out virtues of courage, humility, and joy. Damien’s dream of becoming a priest takes him far from his native Belgium. When he arrives in Hawaii, he cares for his new parish with Christ-like love. Damien then offers to go on a difficult assignment, becoming Christ to the lepers of Molokai, giving them everything - even his life.
This series contains brief moments of intensity and fear, including natural disasters. Voices are raised in arguments. There are discussions of several different diseases and their symptoms, as well as death. A character passes away from leprosy.
