The series tells the story of one of the most heroic men of the 20th century: Pope John Paul II. Karol Wojtyla, along with his friend Halina, perseveres as Nazis invade Poland. Karol’s faith deepens as he encounters the writings of John of the Cross and discerns a vocation to the priesthood. Elements of friendship, courage, and faith are highlighted.
Some elements of intensity that may be unsuitable for younger listeners include Nazi invasion, the natural passing of a family member, forced labor camps, and other elements of war. Sounds of war and a physical fight are heard. People are being loaded into trucks, though it is unclear where they are going. All intense elements serve to highlight the beauty and necessity of faith in darkness.
