Olaf Haraldsson rises to become king and patron saint of Norway. Drawn by a mysterious dream and an unexpected calling, he commits himself to unifying his fractured homeland and leading his people to Christ. He wrestles with his conscience as he strives to govern with love rather than force, repents of his violent past, and ultimately journeys toward martyrdom, laying down his life in battle for the soul of Norway.
This series contains frequent moments of danger and intensity, including raised voices and the realities of Viking warfare. Characters face battle, bloodthirsty berserkers, treacherous jarls, rebellion, and invading armies. The series depicts pagan worship and the destruction of idols, religious conflict between Christianity and the Norse gods, threats against the king's life, spiritual temptation, and a climactic battle in which Olaf is killed. The series contains references to martyrdom, death, and war.
