Spanish America, 1531. The city of Tenochtitlán. The mighty Aztec Empire has fallen.

Spanish conquistadors rule. Atop the Pyramid of the Sun, where human sacrifice once reigned, a new and holy sacrifice purifies the land.

But down below, a humble peasant farmer faces an uncertain future in a land no longer his own. This is the story of Juan Diego.

Rating Reason

The series offers a compelling narrative that underscores the virtues of faith, humility, and obedience. Through the character of Juan Diego and his interactions with divine figures and fellow humans, the series beautifully portrays the transformative power of faith and the importance of community.

Some elements of intensity include confrontations with authority figures and soldiers, adding layers of tension and urgency. The pagan sacrifices which have been replaced by Christian worship are mentioned, as well as blood being washed from Aztec temple steps. There are several scenes with physical danger, including mentions of ambushes and arrow wounds. These elements serve to heighten the drama and may require parental guidance for younger listeners.
