Paul Miki yearns to become the first Japanese Jesuit priest. The son of a nobleman, he is educated at the Jesuit seminary and learns virtues of courage, perseverance, and hope. When the Church in Japan begins to undergo persecution, Paul bravely faces danger - even his own death - in order to stay close to Jesus.
This series contains moments of intensity and danger, including raised voices and arguments. An attempted robbery takes place. A sword fight occurs. Several characters threaten one another with death. A joke about polygamy is made. A character’s earlobe is severed. Christians in captivity are beaten and mistreated. Crucifixions are portrayed.
