Philip Neri’s story exemplifies his true humility, charity, and joy. In 1500s Rome, Philip worked as a tutor, while selflessly teaching and providing for the poor. His wit and humor drew countless souls to Christ, showing that real sanctity isn’t stuffy, but cheerful. Philip’s life teaches lessons of cheerfulness, trust in God’s will, and selfless service.
This series contains moments of intensity and danger. Philip Neri’s autopsy is described. Voices are raised in arguments. A thief threatens Philip and a crowd in Rome with violence. Characters mock Philip for his poverty and bizarre way of life. Philip’s intense experience of having his heart expanded by the Holy Spirit is portrayed.
