Rita of Cascia
The Patroness of Impossible Causes
Italy, 1393. The Black Plague devours cities, and violent crime families rule what’s left. In the shadowed hills of Cascia, a young girl dreams of peace in a world built on blood.
When tragedy knocks at her family's door, she must choose: remain a bystander—or become a light in the darkness. This is the story of Rita of Cascia.

Rita of Cascia had a long journey from reluctant bride to radiant peacemaker. Her refusal to return evil for evil, even at great personal cost, reveals a soul deeply rooted in prayer and God’s love. In moments when the conflict between the Mancini and Chiqui families threatened to boil over, she stood firm in faith. Her steadfast prayers, her refusal to seek vengeance, and her patient suffering all model a love that suffers and still hopes.
This series contains moments of danger and intensity, including raised voices. It depicts physical conflict within marriage. Several people are murdered in a vendetta. A child has stones thrown at her for having the plague. Rita’s sons are separated from her due to contracting the plague. Their out-of-scene deaths are mentioned. There are moments of intimidation, threats, and danger associated with a 13th century Italian blood feud.
