As a young Christian woman in pagan Rome, Cecilia models heroic faith, despite the constant threat of persecution. Her fidelity deepens as she challenges Valerian, her betrothed, converting him through her holy example. Cecilia’s quiet determination, unwilling to yield under threats, and preaching to the very person who betrays her, shows her as a steadfast example of fortitude, joy, and commitment to the truth.
This series contains moments of danger and intensity, including raised voices. Characters are arrested and imprisoned for burying Christian martyrs. Emotional confrontations over faith and betrayal occur, as well as family conflicts. There are moments of suspense and threats from the Roman authorities as they attempt to catch Cecilia and her family. Cecilia and others are martyred for their faith off-scene, and their deaths are referenced.
