Over the course of her life, Teresa of Avila journeyed from aristocrat to ascetic and mystic. In the wake of her mother’s tragic death, Teresa entered a convent. Arriving, however, she discovered that the nuns of her order lived an extremely worldly life. Her realization of Christ’s suffering led her to a deep and personal interior life, including visions of Jesus. Her story teaches virtues of forgiveness, reverence, and trust in God’s Love.
This series contains moments of intensity and danger. Teresa’s mother suffers from a debilitating illness, and it is implied that Teresa discovers her body. Teresa stays out late with friends after her mother’s funeral. Teresa and her father raise their voices and argue. Teresa and one of her fellow sisters are threatened and pursued by a crowd.
