Saint Thomas Aquinas shows us that faith and reason are not enemies, but allies in the pursuit of truth. Although he faced severe opposition for being a Dominican and for his interest in Greek philosophy, he offered his brilliant mind to the service of Christ and His Church. His life reminds us that true wisdom begins in prayer, deepens through study, and ends in love.
This series contains moments of intensity and raised voices. Several characters mock the Dominicans and other mendicant orders. Thomas’ classmates call him ‘Dumb Ox,’ which becomes his famous nickname. Thomas is imprisoned by his own family for joining the Dominicans. Thomas’ brothers hire a woman to visit him in his cell and tempt him away from chastity. He chases her out of the room with a log from the fire. Several characters’ out-of-scene deaths are mentioned.
